    Rotisserie Chicken thoughts?

We used to love Boston Market, but the 1 close to us has such horrible reviews I wouldn't get food from there for any reason. I usually am willing to give a place a chance, but not when 90% of the reviews are mediocre to bad.

Do you take the skin off bratwurst before cooking?

There are edible, non-animal based casings. Never tried them, but they were in the sausage making supply catalogs when we used to make sausage enough that we'd buy things through them.

    Two questions about Pasta

We had something similar with our malamute/golden retriever mix. She was a big girl, around 95 pounds and nearly as tall as me, 5'1", when she stood up on back legs. First time, I had put a beef roast, not a prime rib thankfully, on the counter, to warm up a bit before roasting. We left...

    Two questions about Pasta

As far as lasagna noodles,, you can't leave them in water. They will continue to absorb it and get soggy. What you can do is store them in a bag or whatever with a tiny amount of water. If there are any that stick, you can soak them in some warm water and they should unstick. I do this with...

    Two questions about Pasta

The 1 brand of shelf stable gnocchi we tried had a gummy, gluey texture to it. Been a long time so I don't remember brand name. I did try making gnocchi with instant mashed potato flakes per the ATK or Cook's Country recipe a while ago. It wasn't as good as homemade baked/riced potato...

    Eggplant

Cook the eggplant like I do, roast whole until just beginning to soften, then cool, slice, then fry, allow to cool, then peel off the skin. It usually comes right off. If you roast, then fry, you won't need as much oil. Eggplant soaks up oil like you won't believe...

    Monday 13th May - what's for dinner?

Tovala meals of honey mustard chicken with mashed sweet potatoes and crunchy fried onion pieces. Green beans from the grocery. Craig prefers full blown country style beans, nearly falling apart, but I prefer just past crisp tender, so a compromise. I started eating before I took picture, sorry.

    Eggplant

I bake my eggplant per David Rosengarten, one of the original FN hosts. Then, slice and quickly fry it. After that, I peel the skin off the slices before putting the dish together. I've never tried Julia's recipe, but I love his!
