Your Dream Kitchen

If money were not an object, what would you have in your dream kitchen? Include material types, large and counter top appliances and whatever other detail you want to dream about.

As for me, I don't know...I'm still working on figuring this out.

All I know is that I would have a huge workspace. A larger refrigerator and gas stove/oven. Also, my kitchen table would not be in the middle of the kitchen.

If money were no object I would place the fridge and freezer compressors in the basement and run the cooling lines up to said appliances. That would eliminate the annoying "hum" you constantly hear in your kitchen.

I feel fortunate to live in my new house that has my dream kitchen or almost.

Somethings I had dreamed of and have incorporated in my new house are:

Built in 36 inch Refrigerator and Seperate Freezer
Convection Oven
Warming Drawer
Granite counters and full height backsplash
Undermount Sink with built in cutting board
Appliance Garage
Upgraded Cabinetry with full extension drawers and lower cabinets with a mix of drawers and other cabinets with pull out shelves
Built in 5 burner cooktop with telescopic downdraft hood
Ample Lightning
A large work island
A seperate nook for kids to eat and do homework

Somethings that I was unable to incorporate but would have loved if money were no object:
Dishwasher drawers
Professional Stove - 8 burner Viking with built in griddle/grill or similar is still my dream
Professional Venthood with warming lights
Large farmhouse sink

First of all, Yakuta, can I come live with you? :D

And also, what is an appliance garage?

It's a cupboard that sits down against your countertop and it usually has an accordian style door, like those used on some garages. The breaks in the door allow it to roll up and be hidden from view. They're great because you can leave all of those big bulky items out but they don't clutter up your counter.

If money were no object .... I would have my kitchen designer FAX you the plans.

I would first design my kitchen ... then my formal and informal dining spaces ... finally the rest of the house around those areas.

Not that this is likely to happen, but if my "number comes up" on the Lottery, and I become a gazillionaire, I am going to do whatever is necessary to have MiFW fly up here, "Cattleman's" steaks in luggage, and redesign my house, re-equip my kitchen, and teach me a bunch of what he very obviously knows...

(Sorry to leave that "awful" prospect hanging over your head, Michael!)

htc, you are welcome to come stay with me :-). Zereh's picture is right on. My appliance garage is slightly different though because it is set up as an entire deep cabinet with multiple shelves. It has an outlet inside and it not only holds my stand mixer and food processor but also my oversized pitchers on a second shelf. It's truly an ingenious idea and I can't take credit because it came with the kitchen design I selected.
