Well, you did notice that a crucial ingredient was missing, so I imagine if you had wanted to make it, you would have stopped once you realized that.

Experienced bakers, like experienced cooks, learn to recognize problems with recipes. Of course, if people never bake or experiment with it, they won't learn those things.
