From Food Editors Favorite Treasured Recipes cookbook I got for a quarter at my favorite charity shop, published 1983.

Butterscotch Brownies

2 c light brown sugar
1 c margarine or solid shortening (I'll be using butter)
4 eggs
1 t vanilla
1/2 t orange extract
2 scant c ap flour
1-2 c chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 350į
cream sugar and margarine
add eggs one at a time
beat after each addition
add vanilla and orange extracts
add flour
mix well
stir in chocolate pieces
pour batter into greased 9x12x2 baking dish
bake 35-45 minutes or until done
cool before slicing

My dh will like this because it's not an overly chocolate brownie dessert which for some odd reason, he's not real fond of
