To add to GB's list of reasons why those things are good for you let me add that garlic is a natural antibiotic and antiseptic. It kills nasty bugs. It used to be brewed into a wash for wounds and I have personally found it effective in curing strep throat. Onions (and all members of the allium family, leeks, scallions and garlic) have been found to prevent some forms of cancer in the digestive tract. The root end of the onion also secretes a juice when cut that is effective in taking the sting out of bee and wasp stings.

At first I thought it said food you Wouldn't live without. I dont eat anything on that list. I was thinking am I? already dead?

But those are pretty convincing reasons.

I lied. I eat garlic and cauliflower.

Okay, GB. Now that you've informed us -- and btw, I love all of them -- I challenge you (or anyone else) to don your thinking cap and come up with an edible recipe that includes all 15 miracle foods.

What kind of people would leave sugar off the list? Shouldn't it be at the top of the list. Do you have any idea what life would be like without candy? You wouldn't even bother to open your eyes to look at that other stuff.

I know it's important to eat a well balanced diet but we just do not
celebrate with it. Can you imagine running into the street to pick up pork roast tossed off a parade float?

The closest I can think off would be some sort of salsa. I will let someone else take the first bite though
