8/20/2019 - World Mosquito Day Dinner

World Mosquito Day, observed annually on 20 August, is a commemoration of British doctor Sir Ronald Ross's discovery in 1897 that female mosquitoes transmit malaria between humans.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Mosquito_Day

The mosquito is the world's deadliest animal, killing 830,000 humans per year.

And then there is the Alaskan mosquito...

Sue Veed is making ribeyes for us tonight, with sides of potato salad and a house salad.

Isn't the mosquito Minnesota's state "bird"? With 10,000 lakes they must have 10,000,000,000 mosquitoes.

Himself won't have to dodge mosquitoes at the grill tonight. I bought Stonefire naan pizza planks. Trying to make up my mind if I want to use both for his-and-her pizzas with leftovers, or use one and have his-and-her halves.

I'm going to grill burgers on charcoal once again. Tatertots and a salad will go with it.

I'll have to find some mosquito larvae, and feed some of my fish!

Since it's still horribly hot here, I made what may be my last batch of gazpacho for the season (though I do see a lot of green tomatoes and blossoms on the plants now). One more day of this 100°+ heat index weather, then, RELIEF! Assuming they are right...

We're having bratwursts in bolillo rolls and topped with sweet and sour cabbage. Potato salad on the side.

Looks good! Still waiting to make my 1st lasagna. I am leaning towards making a Ragu from scratch and instead of ricotta making my own béchamel sauce.

Will probably model it after this: he does a good ragu vid also.

About one more month of it, here. But, at least it is too hot and dry for the mosquitoes these last few weeks.

I have to mow the backyard, once the sun sets. I'll probably just graze on light foods tonight.

While we both had salads, I think that I won the healthy pizza contest. : lol: Himself's had red sauce, Italian sausage, pepperoni, ham, mushrooms, and onions; mine had white sauce, broccoli, mushrooms, tomato, and grilled chicken. Both had mozzarella.Click image for larger version
