coffee cake for breakfast
This was always a sunday treat when we were kids...something we'd get at the bakery after sitting through church.
My favourite was dense, heavy with crumb topping. I'd proceed to slice it in half and then slather butter on it, replacing the top layer of crumbs. This is delicious beyond words. I'm also partial to the yeast coffee cakes, especially ones with almond paste, or pecans, or cheese... Come to think of it, I haven't yet met a coffee cake I didn't approve of. I do feel slightly guilty every time I indulge...but I get over it fairly quickly. What about you?

I make the Martha Stewart crumb cake recipe a couple of times a year for my hubby. Its so sinful - not one but two sticks of butter!
