Also I always hung out with my mom while she was cooking (which was hard, given how antisocial she is) and since she grew up in Louisiana and moved to Mexico when she married my dad her style was something really worth picking up.

I do not know how to respond, I do not use can, except tuna (which I do not heat) and trader joe's oven roasted roma tomatoes.

I cooked a lot of hamburgers and bread pizzas.

Bread Pizza

4 slices white bread
4 slices american cheese
8 slices bacon cooked till done but limp(it is important not to overcook bacon)
Catsup
Oregano

Place cheese slices on bread
Spread with catsup
Sprinkle with oregano
Place Bacon slices on top and broil in oven till bacon is cooked and cheese is melted
