A recent Rosengarten report was about Kobe beef.

My memory is shot, but do they not raise beef similar to Kobe here in the US?

Yeah I believe you are right Jenny. There are similar types of beef here in the US. I have never tried any (or Kobe) myself, but sure would like to.

It pretty much tastes like beef but the flavor has more depth. If you have to pay that much why not just get filet and grind it up - those make some darn good burgers. There's a local restaurant that does that and because it's filet you can order them rare - that burger was way better than the Kobe beef burger I had.
