I bought a new CD-RW drive, since apparently my old cd drive is heading south. Sure enough, I was able to open the disc, and rip most of the files from that disc onto the HDD of my desktop. One problem: All my recipes (around 3K total recipes) were written in MS Works, and I don't have that on my desktop, just MS Office. I was able to open a couple documents in Notepad, but none of the formatting comes through, as well, there are many extra characters where the formatting should be. Now, I'll have to open each and every one, and do some serious cut/pasting/formating. This could take months.

You may be able to open them in MSWord in Office. Do a "save as" for them. Hope it works. MY Works is corrupted to the core and I have lost a lot of recipes, but even if they look strange in notepad, copy them to a new document and they come out OK--like in word/works. DO NOT ask me why.

Works in and of itself is no more--it is Word.
