You all have such wonderful memories of your grandparents. I only knew my maternal grandmother. The other grandparents never came to American so I never met them. This grandmother (I was named for her) made lefse which is a flatbread made from leftover mashed potatoes with enough flour added to be able to roll thin and cook on a dry cast iron skillet. They were wonderful with just butter or adding cinnamon sugar. The were good cold stuffed with meat and/or cheese. I make them but they are not as good as hers. I have her recipe for ham hock and baked beans, the best. She never wrote anything down and all recipes were in her head and she never measured anything. She lived with my parents until she passed away when I was 4-1/2. My mom kept a cook book, handwritten, of her rendition of her moms cooking.
