Ruth Reichl's cool new food show on PBS

GOURMET'S DIARY OF A FOODIE

This looks like a fantastic new show! It premiers October 7th -- not sure what time.

Jen thanks - I have read a lot of Ruth Reichl's books and really like them.

I get PBS here in California but I am not sure that her program is syndicated throughout the United States.

Thanks again.

Jen and Anyone Else in the Boston Area:

'GBH has it on Sunday the 8th at 6:30 PM and a rerun on Saturday the 14th @4:00PM

It looks like the first run episodes are Sunday evenings.

another reason to financially support pbs. i say financially, meaning an actual donation, so all of the cheap bastids out there can't just say they support it. it doesn't count if it's just in spirit!

pbs is not a traditional tv network, so member stations have to directly-ish pay for their programming. this gives them more flexibility and control of their schedule, which helps to keep them at the top of their game, but the downside is the shows can vary greatly from market to market.

Since WGBH (Boston) is producing it and owns it, there is not guarantee THAT other stations will pick it up, and if they do, WHEN they will run it!

I sure hope it comes to 13 or WLIW soon. Ruth Reichl is way more than just a "foodie," altho she surely is that. She's the editor of Gourmet, and was a Chef in California during the early years of "Cali Cuisine," as well as the former restaurant reviewer for both the LA Times and the NY Times... She's a cool lady!
