With as moony as the last two nights were, Himself was surprised by the crowds that showed up for his telescope nights at Fort Hill Farms. Seems the people weren't concerned with not seeing stars since it was so easy to spot the planets. I'm glad he's having fun sharing his gear and knowledge...and that I get the house to myself for a few hours. :whistling:

I bought a package of Naan bread at Aldi yesterday. Same price as Stonefire, but twice as many pieces. We'll use them for individual pizzas tonight and decide if they are good enough. I'll make salads, too. If I start them now, I might have supper ready by 7:00 PM. :ROFLMAO:

CG, I'm glad your Honey is having fun. Do you ever go with him on such a beautiful night?

Tonight I'm doing one of my favorite recipes from Chef John..Turkish Chicken Kebabs.

They cook up so beautifully on the grill. For those who love thighs like we do, this recipe is a real keeper.
Glorified salads with it and we'll be set.

No, I don't, Kayelle. The idea of just standing around for three hours looking bored isn't my game. Baseball, three hours of listening to the play-by-play guy, isn't his game. I'd have to make him listen to baseball if he made me go to these viewings. His reply? "Nope Nope Nope" :ROFLMAO:

Ribs, deboned chicken thighs, refried beans and corn...

I baked a frozen California Pizza Kitchen Margherita pizza tonight. They were on sale at Kroger for less than six bucks. I added fresh basil from my garden near the end of cooking. It was good. I haven't had pizza in at least a month. I have a few slices left for lunch tomorrow.

Today is TB's 50th birthday. We went for a BBQ lunch at our complex to celebrate the end of renos and (sadly) the end of summer. We didn't eat much, as we were planning to go out for dinner.

I told TB he could pick any restaurant/type of food as long as it wasn't one of our usual places (the Pho restaurant, Nando's, etc.). He picked a high-end Greek place that we have heard so much about. It was amazing. I had vegetarian lentil soup to start, then Caesar salad and finally spanakopita with al dente vegetables and a baked potato. TB had the soup, Greek salad, then mixed lamb and chicken souvlaki, rice, lemon potatoes and the veggies.

I brought half of the spinach pie and half my veggies home but it was so good! I just got full. TB ate all his meat and just left a few veggies and some rice. I have a cooked chicken thigh at home that he can add and we have dinner for tomorrow - we won't need much as his parents are taking us to a near-by Casino buffet for lunch that is really out of this world.

Milestone birthdays tend to be hard on the waistline! I have one coming up in October. Oh, and we are celebrating his birthday again with family next Saturday as long as the fires stay at bay. We will be traveling into the interior to his sister's house.

Happy Birthday to TB, Lydia!

You need baseball headphones for stargazing.
Nope - late at night we can pick up the Cleveland radio station on the car radio. ;) I tell you what, I'll walk over damp, uneven land with my aching arthritic feet to stand in a field full of mosquitoes...right after you eat a nice, big bowl full of yummy Brussels sprouts.

I'm not much of a stargazer, but I did once go way out into the country with a neighbor of mine who was into astronomy, to view a major meteor event. We went out where there was no "light pollution," tossed some blankets on the ground, and laid on our backs to watch.

WOW! I counted 11 very spectacular "shooting stars."

Another time, the same neighbor asked me to help him set a telescope up on the roof of his house one evening. He had beer, so I was in. He did the math, and set the telescope up, and I got to see the space shuttle rise into space after takeoff -- we were in Dallas.

I've looked at planets through a telescope, and thought, "Yep, that looks like Saturn." But, if someone asked me if I'd like to watch an asteroid or comet that only passes Earth every 200 years pass Earth, I'd buy into that. I'd want to see that just because nobody is going to see that for the next 200 years.

I spatchcocked a chicken, marinated in lemon juice, garlic, fresh rosemary and olive oil and roasted it on the BGE. I put a pan with new potatoes underneath the grate on the plate setter to roast in the drippings. As a side, sauteed mirliton and carrots in bacon drippings.

I love to do that when I make a rotisserie chicken on the Weber Kettle. Do you par cook your potatoes first? With the particular set-up I use for rotisserie cooking, I need to par cook the potatoes before putting them under the chicken.
