It's Bill Clinton's birthday. He's dropped his fondness for fast food and is now a vegan. I wouldn't go that far, but then again, I've had a much better balanced diet all my life.

Tonight's dinner was steak tips on the grill, baked sweet potatoes, and a green salad. I read somewhere that wine helps reduce cholesterol, so we had some wine as well. Medicinal purposes only.

Brunch was over easy eggs, medium bacon (I hate when bacon shatters when I bite it. It tastes burnt to me. I like my bacon pliable), and toasted bakery seeded rye bread.

Dinner was Chinese take-out - Roast pork with Chinese vegetables and pork fried rice.

Coconut shrimp with a simple dipping sauce of mayo/Thai sweet chili and lime juice..I snuck in a minced birds eye... and gf wanted some of the potatoes I dug up this morning. Peach cake and ice cream for dessert..

Toasted whole wheat with thin slices of year old cheddar, tomatoes from the garden, cucumbers peeled and sliced thin. I wish I could eat this way everyday.

DH having sloppy joes and ice cream with mock apple pie filling and strawberry sauce courtesy of the garden.

Family dinner here, garlic bread then creamy garlic chicken fettucine and brownie , my granddaughters fave.

For some unknown reason, I have not NO luck with Pork Chops.

But, I was inspired last night by Dragn and her Mushroom Stuffed Chops.
So I made a trek over to my local green grocer who also has a
wonderful Meat and Seafood case.
Found two nice bone-in sirloin chops
Brined them
and followed this "recipe", but I call it more technique:

Two thing I learned:
1) start temping the meat sooner than recommended
2) ask the butcher in the back to please, pretty please, cut me thicker and more evenly cut chops.
These two were much thinner the farther away from the bone it got.
Don't get me wrong, this was a far cry better than any other Pork Chop
that I've made in my entire married life
But I think I can do better ;)

Peaches have been on sale here for a week or so, we usually grab a few baskets and freeze them for desserts..GF made this peach cake with pecan topping..we had it with ice cream

We had a small bit of salad along side Italian sausage sandwiches. Mozz cheese, sauteed onions and three different colored bell peppers, all topped with marinara sauce... accompanied by a knife and fork. Those sammies got a wee bit sloppy.
