Wednesday, 9-19-2018 ~ Arrrr, what's yer plan fer grub today, matey?

Avast, ye pirates and wenches, today is International Talk Like A Pirate Day. What is yer pleasure to put down yer gullet?

Here on the good ship Chaos we'll be chowin' down on bowls of K-L's Chicken Tacos. Them morsels looked mighty purdy when she showed 'em in one of those photo graphs and I've been cravin' a taste of them since then.

What slop will you be servin' up to yer crew today?

Slop-whole grained bread with a little mayo and big thick slices of fresh tomato S&P.
Dh loves the chicken grape salad on bread, so some of that.

Shiver me timbers, it's Pirate day again already?! I know I've told this before - a few years back on Pirate day my daughter went into her hubby's FB account and changed the language from English to Pirate Speak. The look on his face was priceless when he logged on and tried to figure out what was going on...

Leftover Lentil Vegetable soup here today. I'm going to have to freeze half of it - it's delish but I made WAY too much.

A flashback to the 70s, French onion pie with a salad of sliced tomato, onion, and cucumber.

French Onion Pie

1 9” frozen pie crust
1 3 ounce can of French's French fried onions
4 eggs
2 cups milk or a combination of milk, cream, sour cream, etc...
1 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
S&P to taste
A big pinch of cayenne pepper

Par-bake the pie crust for ten minutes according to the package instructions. Beat the eggs with a wire whisk, add milk and seasoning to eggs. Remove crust from oven and reduce temp to 325F. Put half of the onions into the bottom of the crust, top with cheese, add egg mixture, top with remaining onions. Bake for 50-55 minutes until a knife inserted off-center comes out clean. Cool and serve warm or at room temperature.

Love that Jimmy B song...we were born three Christmas's apart so alas, it's been a very long time since we were forty.

After learning Cheryl's cool trick for finding my old pictures, I'll be doing this blast from the past tonight.

Good stuff, especially with a couple of slices of toasted baguette to sop up the juices.
