If you give the crust a wash with eggs instead of milk, it will come out nice and shiny. I wash it before I put it in the oven, then again half way through. I sprinkle raw sugar on top after the second wash. The egg wash also help prevent burning. I also egg wash the bottom crust before I even start to prepare the filling. Then I leave it to air dry. It semi hardens and helps prevent it from being soggy.

You are welcome. My mother used to do that to pies when she was baking them in a wood fired stove. I can still tell if the oven is ready by sticking my hand in it.

My cake pops were a hit for Thanksgiving. Some people didn't have room for pie, and were thrilled to just have a bite of cake!
My youngest grandson (almost 4) ate many cake pops, and still was able to sleep on his 4 hour car ride home. :)
