What are you baking today?

I hope to bake some chocolate chip cookies for the girls' teachers andhopefully some banana bread. I'm also prepping to bake my first sourdough bread with my starter.

Made two loafs of our favorite chicken bread today,it was delicious...

Baked Flora B's Peach Cream Pie tonight. It was a little runny even after an extended baking time, but really tasty!

When I made this pie it firmed right up when o chilled it. Worked when I made it with peaches and when I used blueberries too (although I did add a little extra flour for the blueberry one.

I didn't get to do the baking yesterday that I wanted. So, today, I started my first sourdough on it's first rise and also put a loaf of sourdough banana bread in the oven for breakfast tomorrow.

Well, I messed up my sourdough, so to fix it, i have double. So I have two plain sourdough loaves in the oven, then I'm turning the rest into raisin, walnut bread.

I am making a ruhbarb dessert today for father's day. The one with the butter, flour & sugar crust, cooked ruhbarb, custard filling & merange on top.

I will be baking a 2 pound loaf of Italian bread today. I normally follow Amy's Italian Bread recipe which uses a sponge starter but since my starter died of neglect, I will be using my bread machine instruction book recipe. I'll mix it up in the bread machine, but bake it in the oven.

Now that the weather is warmer I am also going to make another attempt at catching some natural yeastie bugs to make some sourdough bread. I'll give it a week on it's own, and if I get no reaction I will help it along with some organic grape skins.

Tonight I made MARILYN O' REILLY'S IRISH SODA BREAD. I used currants instead of raisins and used the optional 2 Tbsp caraway seeds. Delicious!!!

That does sound good!

To me they are best if you let them ripen for a couple of days.
