The freezer bags are best because you can squeeze out the air and seal it really tight - that helps prevent those ice crystals forming all over the top. I always date my bags too - nothing fancy, just the month and year, so I have some idea of how old things are when I find them at the bottom of the freezer again LOL!
For freezing lots of small individual things like canapes, spread them out on a baking tray and freeze, then transfer them to freezer bags.
