Let me start by saying this thread is not for discussing chili as we all know from previous discussions that everyone has their own thoughts about what chili is and what makes a good chili. this thread is just strictly about what toppings you like to put on your chili (whatever kind of chili you like).

For me I love shredded cheddar cheese and diced raw white onions diced to give it a little crunch and bite.

What do you like?

Love them all!
Velveeta or American cheese slices, chives and creme fraiche are probably my top favs :)

I usually go with shredded cheddar. I have also used and like onion and sour cream.

Although it's not actually a topping, cornbread really enhances the chili experience for me.

I like a good salsa, Walla Walla or other sweet onions and
cheddar cheese..

Only I put the cheese on the bottom of the bowl before adding the chili.
I like the way it melts that way.

What a cool idea! I am going to try this next time I have a bowl :)

Thanks GB.
I hope you like it.

I always put the cheese on first on
my tacos too. I just love melted cheese so
much better than non-melted.:):)

how about a layer of garlic mashed potatoes on your chilli, buttered and baked to crisp?
like a chilli/shepard's pie.

i am also a big fan of cheese and raw onions, and if i'm in the mood for hot stuff, topped with pickled habaneros.

Coney island chili on a cheddar cheese omlette, usually at about 2:00 am...

John

Extra sharp cheddar, shredded with chopped red onions, sour cream, oyster crackers and Tabasco sauce. ACK! I can feel the heartburn coming on now but oh so good!

I like it with shredded sharp cheese, and either have it on top of a baked russet potatoe, or with corn bread. Adding onions, and sour cream sounds great, I'll have to do that next time I make a batch of chili. I too love a chili omelet with some roasted new potatoes. ronjohn, can you post the coney island chili recipe in the ethnic forum please?

i like finely shredded cheddar, sour cream & scallions.
saltines or buttered, warm Italian bread, too.

Over a boiga - a la Tommy's, with shredded cheddar and diced (red) onions & mustard - or over a Nathan's dog (mustard again) - a la Pink's in Los Angeles too.

sour cream?!

How POPULAR is putting sour cream on chili? Bring enough chili for 6 people to a potluck super bowl party. I am wondering if I should go out and purchase sour cream or will just cheese be enough? How popular is it?
