My hubby is taking me to french St. Martin this coming October for my 40th b-day. I am super excited!! If you've been to this island, can you recommend any good restaurants or bars to try? I've read reports on tripadvisor and started googling the island, but I'd love to hear what you think if you've been there (about the island itself or the food). I am PSYCHED because on my b-day, we are also taking a day trip over to St. Barts.

The down side is my diet starts now.....

I was in St. Martin about 7 years ago - as I recall, Grand Case on the French side had the best selection of finer restaurants. One of my favorite memories, though, was buying a roasted lobster from a roadside vendor. Definitely the best meal I had while there!

You shouldn't have too much trouble finding good food, as St. Martin/St. Maarten is known as the "gourmet capital of the Caribbean".

Hope you have a great trip!

Thanks Dawnsey. My hubby made hotel reservations in Grand Case and I've been reading about all the wonderful food there. He did good!
