I'll be celebrating one of my BIG birthdays this year and my husband and I plan on going to Las Vegas. I've always wanted to go to one of the celebrity chef restaurants or any of the nice restaurants there. The problem is...there are so many restaurants there, which one do I pick? Does anyone have any recommendations? I just want one that is good and will definitely be memorable.

I'm also a sucker for pretty cakes and pasteries. I can't eat much sugar but make the exception on my birthday. Anyone have a suggestions for a dessert place in Las Vegas? Thanks!! :yum:

Gret choice and you're right about most of the menu not being a budget killer. How 'bout that $5000 burger though? lol ;)

Not sure if you are still looking for suggestions - I've been to Vegas plenty of times and eaten at a lot of places. But there is one place that I always make a point of visiting.

It's called Ellis Island Casino & Brewery. Located just a few blocks off the Strip, it's more of a local's hangout and is the #1 brewery in Nevada. The restaurant serves amazing food with prices that can't be beat and their in-house brewed beers are amazing (the dark lager is my fave). I always get their "steak special" which isn't listed on the menu, you just have to ask for it. It costs $5.99 and you get a starter soup or salad, a huge steak, mashed potatoes, the best green beans I've had, and a pint of your choice. Hubby loves their chicken fried chicken - the piece of chicken you get fills the entire dinner plate. You really can't go wrong with anything from this place!

WE DID THIS! Back in 2008 over Christmas and New Years. It was cold, Vegas had snow, believe it or not! We decided to walk from the MGM Grand to the Ellis Island Casino--it was raining at the time.
Take a taxi! It was a long walk!
It was fun though. Good food, very inexpensive $5.99--give it a try.
