I'm looking for a black bean recipe to serve with white rice. I have fresh (not canned) black beans and a big ham bone with lots of meat on it. I'd prefer something that cooks in the crock pot with a variety of spices.

Any suggestions with black beans and ham are welcome though.

Oh, yum. Throw in water of course, diced onions and garlic, something hot (chilis or Tabasco?), a bay leaf, a little S&P, and let your conscience be your guide.

And make a little cornbread on the side.

You can use your black beans and ham bone in place of any type of bean and ham hocks in any recipe.

Here are a bunch of black bean recipes which don't necessarily include ham.

A nice black bean and ham soup served over rice sounds delightful on this rainy day we're having today.
