Looking for Cracker Barrel's Apple Dumpling

Would anyone happen to have this recipe? It has Granny Smith fried apples, pecans and strussel baked in a dumpling and topped with vanilla ice cream. I can probably pull the fried apples and strussel just need to know how to make the dumpling. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, Dina, never had Cracker Barrel's, but when I make them, I just use a pie crust recipe for the 'dumpling' part.

Thanks Marmalady! I thought a dumpling would be similar to biscuit dough and not as crispy as pie crust. At least, that's how Cracker Barrel's baked apple dumpling tastes like. I'm going to play with it a little bit to see what I can come up with. Thank you for your suggestion.

Cracker Barrel Apple Dumplin Copycat recipe

This is my version of the recipe. Use your favorite apple pie recipe using Golden Delicious apples and top with your favorite praline topping. When the pie is done, remove from oven and add your favorite recipe for caramel topping or a commercial brand might work. Return to oven for a few minutes or just until topping bubbles. Remove from oven and cool. Serve warm with your favorite vanilla bean ice cream. Enjoy!

Praline Topping

Here's a good praline topping from cabelas.com:

1 cup coarsely chopped pecans
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons margarine--softened

In a small bowl combine pecans, flour, brown sugar, and margarine. Mix with fork until crumbly.

I've never had Cracker Barrels's apple dumplings but my grandma alway made some that were really good. I don't have her recipe but I know she often used her sweet roll dough for the crust. Sometimes she would use pie crust because it was quicker but the sweet roll crust is much better. I went surfing for a copy cat recipe and found their chicken dumpling recipe which I plan on making soon. I've been wanting to make it for a while and just never looked it up. Thanks for the prompt!
