This is what I use. I can get a 1# tube of ground pork sausage for $2. I cut it into thirds and bag them up and freeze.
I add a piece to a pound of hamburger for a richer flavor, plus I can thaw one out to use for breakfast meats for 2 or 3 breakfast meals without the sausage going bad.
I like the "hot" although it's not really very hot, just a flicker of heat every once in awhile.
