I am making a dish and it's calling for 1/2 cup of minced onion but all I have is dryed. How much should I use?? Thanks:rolleyes:

I believe the conversion is 1 tsp for 1/2 onion and 1 tbsp for a whole medium onion. (dry chopped onion)

As for onion salt it would be 1/4 tsp for 1/2 onion and 1/2 tsp for a whole medium onion. (skip adding salt to the recipe)

For onion powder it is a dash (1/8 tsp) for 1/2 onion and 1/4 tsp for a whole onion. (this is an onion only product)

The basic conversion is 1/4 as much dried as real. So, for 1/2 cup (8 Tablespoons) fresh onion you would need 2 Tablespoons dried.
