A dry sherry or a dry white wine can be used instead of rice wine.

Rice wine and rice wine vinegar are two different things. I doubt they sell rice wine at Wal Mart, but I hardly ever shop there....
You can use dry sherry or dry white vermouth found at any liquor store. DONT use "cooking" sherry or wine.
