Food Warning - Bad canned beans

These are institutional sized cans, sold to restaurants, cafeterias, and other commercial food preparers, such as caterers, so how would you know if you're eating them?

You wouldn't. If you live in Michigan, be careful for a while.

This appears to be one of those, "better safe than sorry" recalls, as there is no evidence of botulism or other problems with the food. My guess is an inspector or someone found a temperature gage in the cooking and canning process to be defective and that lead to the "voluntary" recall.

from one to 1000 on the food poisoning scale, botulism is at 1000, and there are a couple others perhaps at 200-300, and the rest are well under 100.

A good dose of botulism toxin will kill period.
