Growing your own mushrooms

Does anyone cultivate their own mushrooms outdoors?
Ive done the indoor thing with log, and straw kits ( oysters, shitake, cremini), but with the amount of downed oak trees due to the recent storm, ive been reading up on innoculating the logs with shitake spores. Just curious if anyone has tried their hands in it before >
