All suggestions sound better than what I could give. I did take advice where I read somewhere in DC to cut my Basil down - I did about 2 weeks ago and now little shoots are coming up all over. I'm on the Gulf Coast so mine has typically burned up every year. Wish it would grow like my oregano/rosemary - they grow like weeds. ;)

I just mowed down two of my plants and I'm sure they will be coming back before the growing season is out. I think I will let this bunch seed.... anyone need any basil seeds for next years crop????

When a frost is predicted I immediately throw the basil into the food processor with garlic and oil then freeze. One year I had so much that I called the owner of the local Italian restaurant and he took all of it. Basil does not like cold weather, and I've not had a lot of luck growing it inside (I have heater vents under all of my windows, so it is too dry for basil).
