I spoke to my wonderful friend Adrian today. He is the friend who helped me choose my beautiful black Arabian mare Lady Ashen a few years ago!

Well, Adrian is a farmer who lives nearby and he has a few large round bales of partially decomposed hay that he will GIVE me!

I am doing a happy dance of joy! Soon, I will have enough spoiled hay to mulch all of my young orchard, my roses, my herb bed, my grapevines, a new vegetable bed for squashes, cucumbers, and pumpkins, my garden paths, build a compost heap, and still have hay left over!

I feel like I really have found gold! Black gold that is.........:ROFLMAO:

choc, do you lime the spoiled hay to control pH?

beautiful horse, btw. really majestic.

I have not had my soil tested for ph, and I have not applied any lime in the 3 years I have been gardening here.

So far, so good though. Everything I plant seems to do well with the hay leaves mulch.

Thank you. I love Ashen to death. She really is a wonderful lady.

Leo Lady,

Lovely lovely mare, Lady Ashen. Thanks for posting her photo.

We enjoy riding when we can. We are very Urban, living in centre of cities, however, we try to ride once a month or every other month at least.

Have nice wkend.

A kindred spirit!! The power company unloaded 2, yes 2!, big loads of wood chips at my house--it felt like Christmas. I have used one pile to make paths and edges to my flower beds, and one will compost for a year to be used in the beds.

Congrats on the wood chips sparrow! I am so jealous I am gnashing my teeth!
