Mince and Cabbage
This is popular around our house for a once a week budget dish.
1/2 large drumhead cabbage
1/2 kg coarsely ground beef or pork
Curry powder and/or soy sauce to suit taste
Then we check out the fridge/freezer for any beans/peas etc that might end up being thrown out and add them
Cook slowly in a large pot
Served with rice

Another
-------
Beef and Bacon patties
1 kg coarsely ground beef
1/3 kg coarsely ground budget bacon
1 large brown onion, finely diced
1/3 of the above volume in mashed potatoes [2-3 med/large]
3 eggs

Dry grill the beef, bacon and onion in a frypan and set aside to cool, strain the fat out of it if need be.
Add the mashed potatoes and combine well
Add the eggs to bind the above
This mixture will be very moist so add enough 'instant mashed potato' powder to dry it out enough to form patties.
Crumb and shallow fry

I used to make a similar mince & cabbage dish but lasagna style and a cheese sauce on top.
