I'm no expert but I would start by posting the recipe so the experts can help. I know that timing will depend on the size of the meat and if it is bone in or not! Good luck!
You can bake the chicken (along with the marinade) in the oven until cooked then immediately grill them on an open fire for a couple minutes just to get the charred flavor. It's great as the chicken turns out very moist! Quite unlike the normal barbecue chicken. This is the only way I make it.
I would line your pan with foil and bake it skin side up at 425* for probably 45 minutes. I do this often with ribs when we can't use a grill at our beach place. Works very well. You can turn the broiler on briefly to really crisp it if needed.
