How do you make a french dip sandwich?

with that lovely meat and au jus, no idea what either of them are... is it like roast beef simmered in beef broth or something?

Au Jus means "with broth", au meaning with, so when someone says can i get some au jus, they are saying "can i get some with broth" I don't know why that peeves me every time i hear it-no offence to anybody whatsoever- i just kinda grin when i hear it. Jus is the appropriate term. Sorry, just had to get that out. Roast beef au jus means roast beef with broth. Kinda like VIN number... vehichle identification number number?

LOL Chef Jimmy that bothers me too. It is like nails on a chalkboard. Anotehr one is shrimp scampi. Scampi means shrimp so shrimp scampi is shrimp shrimp :)

GB, maybe shrimp scampi is just shrimpy little shrimps!

Back to the french dip - here's an easy one that really tastes good:

1 beef roast (3-4 lbs)
1-2 pkg lipton dry onion soup mix
1/4 c. good mustard
2 cans Campbells double strength beef broth

Crock pot on low 8 hrs. When it's super tender, pull the meat apart with 2 large forks and serve on french rolls. Yum!
