French Dip Sandwich Goes Asian by powerplantop, on Flickr

This is kind of a cross between a Bánh Mì and a French Dip

Ingredients:
3-4 pound Boneless Roast
1 cup Beef Broth
1/4 cup Black vinegar
2 tablespoon Soy Sauce
1 tablespoon Honey
1 teaspoon Sesame Oil
1 teaspoon chopped Garlic
1 teaspoon grated Ginger
Pinch White Pepper

Optional Garnish for Dipping Sauce:
Chopped Green Onion
Sesame seeds

Buns:
Your Favorite Bun

Pickled Onions and Cucumbers:
Thinly slice onions and cucumbers. Add a teaspoon of sugar then cover with 75% vinegar and 25% water.

Put roast in crock pot.
Mix other Ingredients and add to crock pot.
Cook until tender (Approximately 8 hours on low).
Remove roast and shred
Remove liquid and separate fat. Add broth to dipping cups and if you want add green onion and sesame seeds.
Toast Buns and add beef.
Dip and Enjoy.

Looks real good. :yum:

Have to add it to my going to try someday list :chef:

Thanks.

Did you use beef or pork for the roast?

That looks so yummy! That is going on the soup and sandwhich night schedule for sure.

I got my sesame oil and am getting this started tonight. Will chill tomorrow while I am at work and reheat for dinner. The sauce smells so good.

The least I have to do after work, the better. By Friday night, I'm brain dead. I will also be thin slicing the beef, not shredding it, to make it easier for a toothless ogre to eat.

Brilliant, PP! I will def give this a go. Bought some Kikkoman Ponzu, & will try incorporating it into your mix. Thanks for sharing.

First of all <burp> that was most excellent! Using Asian flavors for an au Jus is brilliant and the pickled veg were perfect! Shrek enjoyed his half and I'm still picking at pickles.

Thanks PPO, this is a keeper and I have about three pounds of the beef left. It should be good with some udon or soba noodles. And I can always make more sauce!
