Apple Cornbread

Ingredients for Apple Cornbread

  • 2 cups white cornmeal
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 2/3 cups milk
  • 3 apples, pared, cored, sliced
Instructions

  1. Mix the dry ingredients together.
  2. Add the milk and beat thoroughly.
  3. Add the apples and mix.
  4. Pour into well buttered pan.
  5. Bake about 35 minutes in moderate oven.
 
This looks pretty good. I have been hungry for corn pudding but I think I will try this first. I like the fact that it does not have the familiar ingredients like cinnamon ... etc. It will taste like something new.

I also have some cream of tartar that needs to be used this year.
