Buttermilk Pancakes, butter and maple syrup.

Son #3 who works one weekend a month in Vermont brought back a half gallon of Vermont Maple Syrup for Son #2. He gave it to me to pass on. AND I DID! What was I thinking? I could have drunk that whole jug all by myself. :bangin:

lol, i knew he couldn't resist.

but i would say it's a perspective thing. much like pizza crusts, there's thick and very thin pancakes. as i'd mentioned (you wouldn't doubt my mom, would ya,chief? ), i love american fluffy pancakes, vand norwegian pancakes, aka crepes.

although, i've never heard that the english were specialists at pancakes of any kind.

BT, your Mom made you, and you're a pretty special freind in my book, and so by the algebraic associative property, your Mom must be exceptional as well. Would I doubt your mom, not in this lifetime, or any other.:D

And if you look at my first post, you can plainly see that I love pancakes of all kinds, and with all kinds of toppings.:yum:

Buonasera,

I have a question; is there a holiday, the USA does not have ? Pancake Day is a 1st for me ... I shall google the information ...

None the less, it has been years and years, since I had Pancakes with Fresh Wild Rasberries or Blueberries or Crepès as a matter of fact ...

Good idea ...

Cool ...

Have nice evening,
Ciao. Margaux Cintrano.

Buonasera,

Found this fascinating website on USA food holidays ...

States Symbols USA Org. website mentions January 28th as being Blueberry Pancake Day ...

In July, the 4th is BBQ day, the 6th Fried Chicken and the 7th is Strawberry Sundaes ...

Amazing ...

It is actually humorous, as Greece, Italia and Spain celebrate Patron Saints, and The USA, foods ...

When is Pancake Day actually ?

Interesting Post.
Thanks.
Ciao, Margi. :)

When is Pancake Day actually ?

A marketing ploy. National Pancake Day was created by IHOP (The International House of Pancakes) a US based breakfast themed restaurant. It raises awareness of where you can go have pancakes.

Nevertheless some people look past the marketing part of it and just use it as an excuse to have pancakes (or whatever product day it is).

Easter Sunday is determined by:

The first full moon after the 21st of March and the next Sunday is Easter. Lent is 40 days prior to Easter.

So if the first full moon falls on the 22nd of March, Easter Sunday will fall in March.

If the first of March is on a Sunday, and the full moon falls on the 22nd, which would be a Sunday, then the earliest Easter Sunday can fall is the 29th of March. :)

I may have to make a trip to the Chief's house ;-)

I was scurrying around this AM, turned on the local News, & they were flipping pancakes like there was no tomorrow. I think it's called Fat Tuesday?

We have a local place that serves red velvet pancakes. I'm very tempted. Have some all-in-one blueberry pancake mix. Might give it a go in my aebelskiver pan.

Keep those hot cakes/flapjacks coming :chef:

If you have an aebleskiver pan, here's how to make them:

W-S had a chocolate mix. Maybe next time I'll make chocolate, filled with half a strawberry.

she makes it look sooooo easy. And, I wonder if her batter is a simple pancake batter.

I don't have the pan. But I do have an egg poaching pan. I wonder how I can adapt it for making aebleskivers. I see more experiments coming.

so much to learn, and only one lifetime to learn it in. Heavy sigh.;)

She drove me crazy with that pronunciation of æbleskiver. It's not ebbel, it's eh ble. And, æbleskiver is the plural of æbleskive.

So I checked my Danish cooking site and found 22 recipes for æbleskiver. Yes, Chief, it's just basically pancake batter. Some had yeast, some had baking soda and buttermilk, one had no leavening, some had baking powder, and one had half a dl of beer and baking powder.

All the ones I looked at used powdered sugar to sprinkle on the finished product.

It would also be traditional to grease the pan with lard.

Here's a Danish how to video. (less that three minutes) It doesn't really matter that you won't understand the words, she shows you. I like the use of a toothpick, instead of a skewer, because it leaves a smaller hole.

Hi, Chief.

I have what is called the "Pancake Puff". Bought it on ebay. It comes with everything shown (flavor injector, etc.). I used pancake batter & Pam. Supposedly, you can use (corn) muffin mix, brownie or cake mix, or eggs (omelette puffs) too.

Here are some more recipe ideas from Williams-Sonoma.
