Is there actually a spice, called allspice, or is it made up of a number of spices?
If it is made up, of a number of spices, would somebody please list them?
I cant find allspice, in the shops. But maybe is is called something else, in German.

Allspice is a spice from the dried unripe fruit of a special pepper plant. Its taste is similar to both cinnamon and cloves but hotter and peppery. I use it in my meatballs but you can also use it to flavour sausages and cakes. You can find it in spice racks (eg. McCormick) in supermarkets.

I do not know the German name for it but perhaps someone else could help you.

Here is a link to McCormick's page on the subject in hopes that if there is a different name for it in German you may see a page translation or some other clue.

Hello again

I have just been told, by a German, what allspice is, in German.

He sent me the following

It's called "Piment" in German, also "Nelkenpfeffer", "Gewürzkörner",
"Neugewürz", "Allgewürz", "Englisch-Gewürz" or "Jamaikapfeffer".
