I love to make bread. I have a bread maker that I bought at a yard sale for 5 dollars. I am glad I didn't pay more than that. I have used it once and the rest of the time it sits in my kitchen. It made a very dense loaf that I wasn't particularly fond of. I guess I am just used to my bread. I just wish I made it more often, but it is so time consuming.

In addition to keeping me from aggravating my arthritis in my hands, using my bread machine for the kneading and first rise allows me to do something else during that cycle. The only thing left, then, is to shape my dough into whatever I've decided it will be and set it to rise for its final time. I can turn out lots of bread products in very little time, with very little effort. Sometimes, especially prior to and during the holidays, both my machines are humming along together.
