How long should I cook a 6lb roast (beef) on a chiminea for a 'medium to medium rare'

I looked up chiminea--though I'm not sure where you would place the roast. Do you put it in a pot and in the fire burning area?

Is your chimnea cast iron? If it is, there should not be any reason why you can't cook in it, but as for the roasting time, it's debateable, because you are not roasting in a controlled oven temperature so there's no knowing. However, should you decide to, for your food safety, use a meat thermometer.

Several comments to the comments received. You place the roast on the top of the chimeny of the Chiminea on a roasting grill that you can buy for the Chiminea.

I actually cooked the roast yesterday 6lb roast beef cooked perfectly in 1 hr 45 minutes.

I've been looking at cast iron chimneas. They do look very nice. :)
