Cooking over open fire

My family would like to roast chickens over an open fire for Thanksgiving. What size chickens would be best and about how long should they roast?
Thanks for any help!

Look for birds in the 4-5 pound range ~~~ There are so many variables to camp fire cooking it's hard to say exactly how long it will take ~~~~ Cook by temperature, not time. You will be looking for 165* in the deepest part of the breast and thigh.... Some folks have a Personal preference to cook the thigh a little more however...say to 175* ~~ For planning allow 2-3 hours of cooking time over hot coals...HTH
