"Cool place!" What is meant exactly?

Hi, I am new to this forum. I just want to know what is meant exactly, when a recipe calls to rest in a cool place?
Is the pantry OK or is a fridge more what they mean?

Hi, Larry. Welcome to DC.

A cool place is meant to be outside the fridge. When the recipe calls for refrigeration, it should say so specifically, "cool in the refrigerator..."

A cool place means away from heat sources such as the stove, fridge and dishwasher.

I want to emphasize Andy's comment about the refridgerator. Many don't know (I sure didn't when I was starting out) that the top of the fridge is very, very warm. I know people who have stored spices or wines on top of the fridge. NOT a good idea. I don't see where you live, but depending on that, a counter top in a cool, shady spot in your kitchen will probably do. IF it is August, and IF you don't have a/c in your house, refridgerating might be the better idea.

I think "cool place" means where is no humidity and no heat..but refrigerator is too humid. Pantry is ok for "cool place"
