I know this sounds weird...but I've been cooking a long time... and once a few years back--- I ran into some potatoes that simply would NOT cook soft. I'd not run into that before or since---- and I have to conclude that something was wrong with the potatoes and not my Crockpot or other methods of cooking..

Let us hope this is the your problem, and you'll have future success with your Crockpot cooking..

Since you are such a nemesis... I want to share a good Crockpot Recipe with you! Grin.

Rathskeller Pork
4 pork steaks, 3/4-inch thick
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 can cream of asparagus soup
1/2 cup chopped green onions
1 teaspoon seasoned salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/4 cup water
4 potatoes, sliced
2 cups shredded cabbage
1/2 cup light cream

In large skillet, brown chops in oil on both sides. Drain off excess fat. Combine undiluted soup with onions, seasoned salt, pepper and water.

Arrange alternate layers of meat, potatoes, and cabbage in Crockpot. Pour soup mixture over. Cover and cook 6 to 8 hours on low.

Turn to high. Add cream; cover and cook on high for 20 to 30 minutes.
