I have been trying to describe the smell of curry leaves...not to mention the taste. The smell reminds me of something, but I can't place it. Can anyone help (and, obviously, they smell like curry leaves, but they still remind me of something else and I can't place it...).

I will say, with full disclosure, that I'm not very good at these things... however, curry leaves remind me of fresh bay leaves or myrtle. I can't say it's necessarily in flavor, though, as I've never had them all side-by-side. It could be textural or even visual. I think they all have their own distinct flavor and curry leaves are special enough that they may garner no comparison at all, but to themselves. Still... throwing those suggestions out in case it helps or triggers other ideas.

I only use fresh bay (I'd use fresh curry leaves, but I can't find them where I live). I want to say that the dried curry leaves remind me, a bit, of the scent of some kind of wood, but I can't place which wood...
