Dulce de leche - what is it for?

Heard people talking about this item and I found this
Dulce de leche, so easy to make and so many useses Taylor Takes a Taste

My question is what do you use it for. Is it like a carmel sauce or sillimar to like Nutella uses.

Yep, caramel sauce. It's maybe thicker than the norm, IMO. Like toffee.

I want to try to make the canned version.

I saw paula deen do it in the oven (put the can in a cassarole pan of water.) when she made banoffy pie, but I hate bananas so I want to make a caramel, apple, walnut pie.

One of my favorite is carmel - anything carmel - so this might be a bad thing I found.
Now I do have to try it. Thanks

It's really for whatever you want. It's a very creamy caramel and quite simple to make, even just simmering a can of sweetened condensed milk on the stove for a few hours works. I have had dulce de leche ice cream, cheesecake, would be a great dip for fruits.
