I pulled out my bottle of white distilled vinegar this morning and was going to use some of it.

But .. I see thing floating in it

Never had this happen before. It's a bottle that I've had for only about a month and I used some of it, re-capped it and put it in the back of the pantry.

What the heck is that stuff? Is my vinegar bad?

A quick online check gave conflicting answers. Some said it is a "mother" and to just strain it through a coffee filter and it "should" be ok.

Others said boil it until it's gone and it "should" be okay.

It's the "should" part that concerns me.

Vinegar is cheap and I can replace it, but anyone know what the heck happened?

My first thought was "mother", but I don't know if one gets mother with white vinegar. My organic, cider vinegar brags about the fact that there is mother in it.
