Question Help with making PITA bread!!

Hi there!

I tried making pita bread last week(to go with some home-made hummus!) and it didnt turn out as well as I had liked. I followed the recipe, and directions..and it didnt seem like pita bread to me! This is the recipe I used from Recipezarr:

Pita Bread - 16831 - Recipezaar

I used cookie sheets- but the oven is not very big here in camp, only enough JUST to squeeze one large cookie sheet in, so I am thinking that its not cooking envenly? I am not sure though. I have never made pita bread before. It turned out to be more like....... really really flat buns, and it didnt puff up in the middle at all like it is supposed to!

I was going to attempt this bread again- does anyone have any tips? I would think the recipe is OK.. its just the whole baking thing maybe? I dont have access to a different oven. so maybe using the cast iron skillet and doing it 2 at a time would be better?

Any tips would be appreciated! :) thanks!!
