I Made my first homemade chocolate pudding last night for my family that did not call for egg. It was a very good recipe. Family loved it. Today I was looking online for a vanilla one and they seem to be calling for egg. I was wondering what the difference is to why chocolate does not but vanilla does ?

I've made vanilla pudding once and my guess is because its a binder. At least the recipe I made the yolks were used as a binding agent. It had some cornstarch but the yokes are what really tightened it up.
I'm sure someone on here can chime in with a real reason but that's my guess.

I just googled "vanilla pudding recipe" and the first one was eggless. There were others.

Would u mind sharing one you googled . I would lime to use no eggs if it don't matter.
