Green tomatoes are about all I have but oh lordy do I have lots! I'll give this a go later this week jennyema, thanks! (Friday likely)

Tomatoes are just turning here. I always have lots of green tomatoes at the end of the season. This soup sounds good! The DH makes a green tomato relish (not to my liking). I'll see if he'll tell me his recipe.

Jennyema,

As you know, Louisana is well known for its fried green tomatoes ... I had them many many years ago in New Orleans ... They were quite tasty.

In Madrid Capital, to date, last winter, a native New Orleanser, opened a lovely Bistro, where he specialises in Louisiana regional cuisine ... The fried green tomatoes were delectable.

Have lovely summer.
Margaux.

Interestingly, I read recently that fried green tomatoes originated in the Midwest and Northeast, since their growing seasons are much shorter than in the South: The Surprising Origins of Fried Green Tomatoes

We have lots of both red and green tomatoes right now. The soup sounds very interesting - I may try that while DH is out of town (for some odd reason, he won't try green tomatoes). I also have a recipe for a green tomato gratin that is delicious.
