I sent my wife to the store to buy a cut of beef brisket that I could throw on the grill for a few hours. She came home with a prepacked raw corned beef.

I don't know anything about corned beef. It is a brisket but it has seasonings/marinade already on it.

Can i just throw my grilling rubs on the meat and cook it as if it were a regular brisket or should I just scrap it and buy a new cut of meat?

Corned beef is salt dured. It is soaked in a strong salt water solution for about 10 days. Seasonings are also added to the brine.

If you slow cook it on the grill, it would be very salty. I'd save it for a corned beef meal and buy a fresh (not corned) brisket.
