I was reading the thread about the lip balm recipes and wanted to give some recipes for lip balm and a lot more. I didn't want to post it in the same thread as the lip balm question because there is so much more than lip balm here. Sorry about the long post, but I hope some of you try these out!

Grandma's Oat Scrub
Oat Facial Cleanser Recipe makes 3/4 Cup
1/4 Cup Regular rolled Oats
1/2 Cup Baking Soda
1) Place oats in a blender or food processor and grind until a fine flour is made
2) Blend in Baking Soda
3) Store in a glass container
4) To use - place a small amount in the palm of your hand add enough water to make a paste. Apply the paste
to you face and scrub. Rinse with warm water and pat dry.
Deodorant & Antiperspirant
Natural Deodorant
Equal parts of dried lemon peal & lavender
Grind together in a blender until a very fine powder, and store in a shaker jar
Natural Antiperspirant
Equal parts of dried lemon peal & dried sage
Grind together in a blender until a very fine powder and store in a shaker jar
Natural Deodorant/antiperspirant
Equal parts of dried lemon peal & lavender & sage
Grind together in a blender until a very fine powder and store in a shaker jar
Hair Rinses
To give hair shine
4 Tabs Apple Cider Vinegar
1 Cup Warm filtered water
After shampooing hair combine vinegar & water and pour over hair, massage in, rinse with warm water, dry & style as usual
For Blonds & to lighten hair color:
2 Tabs Apple Cider Vinegar
1 Tabs Fresh Lemon
1 Cup Warm filtered water
After shampooing hair combine ingredients and pour over hair, massage in, rinse with warm water, dry & style as usual
OR
11/4 Cups Calendula
1 Cup Filtered water
Place calendula in a heat safe bowl. Bring the water to a boil and pour over the calendula. Allow to steep for 20-30 minutes. Strain.After shampooing hair pour solution over hair, massage in, rinse with warm water, dry & style as usual.
For Brunettes
1 Cup Black walnut shells
2 Cups Filtered water
In a saucepan combine water and black walnut hulls bring to a boil then reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes. Remove from heat & allow to cool to a comfortable temperature, then strain out the shells & reserve the water. After shampooing hair pour solution over hair, massage in, rinse with warm water, dry & style as usual.
Herbal Volumizer
1/4 Cup Nettles, dired
1 cup Filtered water
Combine herbs and water in a pan. Bring to a boil, reduce the heat, and simmer, covered, for 20 - 30 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool, then strain out the nettles and reserve the liquid. After shampooing slowly apply the liquid to your hair. Do not rinse out. Dry & style as usual.
OR
1 Dropper full Nettle tincture (30 drops )
1 cup Warm filtered water
Add the Nettle tincture to the warm water. After shampooing slowly apply the liquid to your hair. Do not rinse out. Dry & style as usual.
Oatmeal
Oats contain calcium and magnesium and fiber.
1 Cup Rolled oats
2 Cups Filtered water
1/4 Cup Whey or lemon juice or vinegar
1 tsp sea salt
2 Cups Additional Filtered water
Butter/Cream
* If you don’t have a grain roller you can toast the oats in a 350’ oven until they turn light brown, then grind them in a food processor until coarse. Or you can juy rolled or steel cut oats, but be sure to buy the ones in an air tight package (not open bulk bins) to preserve freshness.
Soak oatmeal 8-24 hours. Bring water & salt to boil
add soaked oatmeal, reduce heat cook 10” (or so) top with butter or cream.
Colorado Salve
Colorado Salve - Basic
Base, beeswax, cocoa butter or coconut oil, almond oil or olive oil
Recipe 1 Oz beeswax (may need additional for thickening)
1 1/2 Oz cocoa butter
1 1/2 Oz almond oil. (3 Tabs + 1 tsp)
1 cup of strong herbal infusion or decoction.
1) Place wax & infusion in a double boiler.Bring just to a boil an turn down heat to simmer, stirring constantly until water has mostly evaporated. Add the cocoa butter & almond oil and mix briskly to prevent scorching.
2) Add small amounts of beeswax if thicker mixture is needed.
3) Pour mixture into jar and allow to cool. Then cover.
Short cut for Salve.
Recipe:

1 Oz beeswax
1 1/2 Oz cocoa butter
1 1/2 Oz almond oil. (3 Tabs + 1 tsp)

1) In the top of a double boiler melt together all ingredients except for essential oil.
2) Remove from heat and stir until mixture cools and begins to thicken.
3) Add essential oil blend of you choice up to 1 teaspoon.
4) Pour into jar, let cool and store at room temperature.

1) Measure out the oils to be used in the chosen recipe and warm over very low heat or in the top of a double boiler.
2) Add 1-3 Tablespoons of herbs and mix in well.
3) Remove from heat and cover let stand for one week, (or longer) stirring or shaking several times a day.
4) Strain and continue with above recipes.

1 1/2 Oz Almond oil (3 Tbs. + 1 tsp)
1 1/2 Oz Lemon Juice - strained (3 Tbs. + 1 tsp)
1 tsp beeswax (1/6 of a 1 Oz bar)
1/4 tsp Lemon oil.
1) In a double boiler melt together the beeswax and almond oil.
2) Slowly pour in the Lemon juice stirring actively with a spoon.
3) Remove from heat and stir until cream cools and begins to thickens.
4) Add the lemon oil and stir until completely cool.
5) Spoon into a jar and seal.
Lavender/Rose moisture cream
Lavender/Rose moisture cream
Beeswax, cocoa butter (or coconut oil), almond oil, Lavender Essential oil, Rose essential oil, and bottled spring water.
Recipe 2 teaspoon Beeswax (about 1/6 of a 1 Oz stick)
2 teaspoon Cooca butter OR 1 teaspoon coconut oil)
4 teaspoons Almond oil
10 drops Lavender oil
4 drops Rose oil
3 Tablespoons filtered water.
1) In a double boiler, melt the beeswax, butter and almond oil together until just melted.
2) beating with a wooden spoon (or a hand mixer on low) slowly add the bottled spring water - beating until cools and thickens. When mixture begins to thicken add the Essential oils drop by drop.
3) Spoon into a jar and store at room temperature.

1 Oz Grapeseed oil
1/2 - 1 Oz beeswax (1/2 Oz for thinner cream)
2 Oz filtered water
1 tsp. Vegetable glycerin
1 tsp. borax
10 drops lavender oil (or oil of your choice)
40 drops Grapefruit seed oil (as a preservative)
1) Melt the beeswax in a double boiler, remover from heat add the remainder of the ingredients.
2) Mix with a hand held mixer until the cream is thick and creamy.
3) Store in a closed container in the refrigerator (6 mos. or so)
